  • Yes my back hurts ALL DAY long since at least 20 weeks. Recently this week I have even been waking up before the alarm clock due to severe pain in my back. I figure I just have to tough it out
  • I see a chiropractor a couple times a week for my pains. It helps immensely. Can you get into a chiro tomorrow?

I'm lucky that I rarely have back pain with this pregnancy. I had some pretty strong abs going into it this time and it really has helped. My chiro told me it's only going to get worse with the back pain though and to wear my pregnancy support belt.

  • This could be a dumb question from a newbie on 3rd tri, but are you sure it isn't back labor?
  • :::butting in::: but that is how my back labor started.  My back killed me starting a couple of days before I went into labor.  It was a wierd pain, totally different than the achy back pain that I normally had.  It hurt so bad and made me feel like I had to go to the bathroom but didn't.  Then the morning I went into labor it would come and go and then my water broke.  so just pay attention to it :)

Same thing I was thinking.  I had all back labor! It hurt so bad, and I couldnt time contractions because I was in too much pain to figure out when they were starting and stopping.  Eventually as they got worse I could tell the difference between them.

  • Chiropractor or physical therapist.

Hot water bottle (love of my life) then ice - lots of it.

    I am so sorry.

  • I injured my back around 5 months.  My OB told me that pretty much it wasn't going to get better until I had the baby b/c of all the pressure on my back.  It's a middle left side pain that can come on strong.  He prescribed me a muscle relaxer to take if the pain got as bad as yours is sounding.  I only took it once so far, though.  I use a heating pad, lie down on my back, and take tylenol PM.  Also warm baths are great.  Talk to your OB if the pain is that bad.
