Breastfeeding classes?

The hubby and I took the 5 week birthing class through HealthEast, and they offer breastfeeding class but I'd like to get another perspective. I found a La Leche League group that meets in Roseville and I thought I might give that a try, but thought you ladies might have other suggestions as well.

Re: Breastfeeding classes?

  • I took the BFing class at St Joes and it was all I needed.  The best part was the latching movie for the husbands.  Since I really couldn't see the latch, it was great to have my DH observe DS latch and tell me if it was right.  I think that's why BFing didn't hurt me, I had an expert latch watcher:)  I would do both the LLL and a class if you want something different.

  • I also took the BFing class through HealthEast.  I found it was very thorough and they also encourage LLL as a great additional resource.
  • We are signed up for one through St. Francis hospital next Monday.
  • Since LLL only meets once per month and have "set" topics, I'd take the BFing class through HealthEast. It is only $35 bucks and worth the money if you ask me. I never bought or read a single book about BFing, just took the HE class, talk to friends who have BF and frequent the BFing board here. DD is still nursing at 13 months and I'm pregnant. Well, I guess the HE class didn't prepare me for getting pregnant while still BFing :)
