Strep B was so painful???? What the heck??

I  had a Group Strep B test today and am almost 36 weeks pregnant. It was a painful experience ( I am not usually sensitive to pelvic exams..Im pretty tough usually). My DR explained it wasn't going to hurt, but I felt an excruciating burning sensation during the culture. I couldn't even hold still. Afterwards it hurt terribly to go to the bathroom.  My DR couldn't give me any explanation for my pain. She said she'd never had a patient react the way that I did. Has anyone else had this happen? I wasn't expecting it to hurt at all and now it still hurts to pee????

    My doctor didn't even go further than running the swab over my vag area and rectal area. No fingers, no opening, nothing that would even cause me to hurt.

    Did they do an internal as well??

    Never had any pain with previous pregnancies.

    I have never heard of it being painful...maybe I am just the weirdo that it hurts for some reason???? Very weird!

    That was my experience also. Way easier than I thought it would be.

    All she did was take the swab and collect vaginal and then rectal samples. I dont even think she went in that far in...no spectlum (is that what it's called??) or anything. It doesn''t make sense to me at all. Now to think of a baby coming out of that...OMG I am seriously scared now!!!!

    Mine hurt like b!tch! It for up to an hour afterward too... my crotch was killing me.

    This. Sounds like you had an allergic reaction, either to the swab, or perhaps to your DR's gloves or whatever might have been on them at the time

    I am assuming the pain was from the internal but still who knows...maybe you are allergic to the gel they used? Did you ever have this reaction before when you had a pap or anything though? hmmm....I came back positive for strep B even and my doc barely swabbed me, he didnt even go inside of me until he did the internal exam...

    That's the wierd thing there was no internal or exam and no gel..just the swab. Who knows what the heck is going on I just don't want it to hurt when I pee anymore...it really freaking hurt the last 2 times=(

    I had this happen to me too when they did mine. Dr. said it shouldn't hurt but it killed me. It hurt for the rest of the day and also burned when I peed. I took a hot bath and it felt better after that. Try it and see if it help. :( I know the pain, it isn't fun.

    Holy moly! I have never had it hurt for the strep B and I have had it for two previous pregnancies. I find this to be one of the least invasive tests they do, but now I am scared to death that it could hurt. I wish I knew why this is happening to you, I hope you feel better soon!
