PSA: Leaking Avent Bottles

I know there's been a few posts about these lately. I just called Avent Customer Service (1-800-542-8368) and complained. I was really hoping for a refund so I can just go and buy more Playtex Drop-Ins, but the lady said especially since I didn't have a receipt that they definitely wouldn't do that.

They are sending me new bottles, though. I have 4-4 oz. and 2-9 oz. honey colored Avent bottles. They're sending me the 4-4 oz. replacements and are giving me shipping labels to send them all back and will then send me the 9 oz. ones.

I just wanted to let you know that you can get free replacements (as a "courtesy" the woman said -- damn fvcking straight it's a courtesy! not my fault ya'll made a crappy product ...). I was on hold for a little bit, but once I got a representative it look me like 5 minutes. I told her my bottles leaked (even after taking the troubleshooting advice on the website) and I wanted my money back. She took my name, e-mail address, telephone number, and address and that was essentially it.

I wonder how many times a day they have to do that to be so efficient at it. ;)

Anywho! Good luck, fellow Avent haters!!

  • They're just wayyyy to expensive for me, personally, to throw out. They were gifts, but I feel bad just throwing them away. The Infant Starter Set (2-4oz, 2-9oz, bottle brush, feeding cup thing) was $39.99, and the 2 extra 4oz bottles were, like, $13.99.

Money's a little tight for us at the moment, so I'm sooo thankful that they're not putting up a big stink and are sending the bottles.  I'm glad you found other ones that didn't leak as bad!! I hope that these don't. If they do, I'll be fussing at them a lootttt more, lol.

  • You have to have the ring on exactly right and they won't leak. I haven't had a problem since getting the hang of it.

this for me too. we havent had leaks since I figured that ring out...

  • Avent's are tricky since you have to have them lined up just right or they leak awful.  Play with them with some water and you will see that they dont leak when you have them screwed on correctly.

That was nice of them to send them!

I've done it a million times and thought I had the science down, and then they started to leak again after a week! I looked on the website and did it like they said on there and they still leak, lol.

Want to tell me how you guys do it? I'm really open for any new ideas here. =)

  • From what I understand (and have), the honey colored Avents do not have the anti leak ring. I use the clear Avent bottle and those work great, these have the ring. I have the Playtex VentAire and do not really like these, as they leak more, in my opinion.

But, for the ring, you have to get it right or it will leak a little. Took us a couple days to get it right, and to make sure everything is screwed on right.
