First Ultrasound?

When is (or was) your first appt? My dr.'s office said they never do them before 8 weeks. I said I'd seen online that the heartbeat can be seen as early as 6, and she told me to stay offline, and that the dr. doesn't like her patients to go on the internet. Huh?

Don't fret about getting an earlier ultrasound. Yes, they're fun but not very visual. If she gives one t 8 weeks then you'll be happy. Some doctors don't give them until 20 weeks!

Mine will be at 12 weeks. My doctor said 13-15 weeks, but when I called to book, they booked it for 12 weeks.

Would you want to go in at 6 weeks and not see a heartbeat, and stress for a week or two until another u/s? I would like to be sure that the hb will be there, so I don't freak out. Mine is at 8w3d.

Good point. We're just waiting to tell family until after we see a heartbeat, so I'm really excited/anxious.

My Dr. see's her patients for the 1st time between 8-10w. I was 9w4d at my appt and u/s.

I had a dating u/s at 8w2d, and there wasn't much to see. I just had to take the tech's word that the blob on the screen was the baby. Thankfully, we heard the heartbeat, but it wasn't promised as sometimes it can still be hard to find at that point.

It?s normal to not get one until 8 or 10 even 12 weeks.

i have had 2 so far, but that is because I?ve had 2 losses and the Dr. being concerned did them to rest my fears.

Good point. We're just waiting to tell family until after we see a heartbeat, so I'm really excited/anxious.

I know how you feel. I'm so excited, but definitely freaking out.

I had my first appointment at 5 weeks 5 days and I have my first u/s scheduled for Wed morning at 7 weeks 5 days. My OB has all of her patients get an u/s between 6-8 weeks. I wanted to wait closer to 8 weeks so that there would be more to see and that is just how to scheduling worked out. She said that they do the early u/s to make sure that it is a viable pregnancy and to make sure that there is just one baby in there!

Haha silly lady. My first appt was at 5 weeks and 5 days and my second was at 9 weeks and 5 days.

Mine is scheduled for Friday, which should make for a more detailed u/s. My OB tries to shoot for seven to eight weeks for the initial u/s. HTH

Mine is scheduled for 8 weeks, 3 days. I thought I might have to wait until the NT scan between 11 and 13 weeks, but luckily my doctor routinely does them around 8 weeks to date the pregnancy.

not until week 12. havent even heard a heartbeat. waiting until after u/s to tell everyone so I am patiently waiting...at 9 weeks now. few more weeks....

When I went in I was 9w3d based on LMP - glad I didn't go in much earlier because I ovulated late and the baby measured at 8w3d. If I had gone in much ealier there wouldn't have been much to see. Instead we got to see our little lima bean, and the heartbeat. I know the wait is hard, but there's a lot of waiting that will happen between week 4 and week 40

I had my first US done on friday and I was 6 weeks! Could only see a gestational sac! No yolk sac, no fetal pole. and my doctor doesn't want to do one again til 12 weeks. He thinks I could have ovulated later. So I'm freaked out that I have a blighted ovum. I guess mother nature will do what it has to do. I wish I never would have had it done!!!
