S/O Cleaning lady/service. question.

My beef with it, I am so uncomfortable in having someone in our house while we are not there.

If you had that concern, how did you get over it?

  • I am always here while the cleaning ladies are here.  (I work from home).

You could also see if there are maids/services that will work on weekends.

  • No one said that you have to be gone. You can stay in a room they aren't cleaning and then move to another room when they start cleaning in there. I just feel guilty being there when they are cleaning and i am playing with my DD or doing work on my laptop.
  • True.  And missjen. That's the other thing too. I would feel guilty as well.  aggh!  I'm so in a rock and a hard place. Tongue Tied

  • We use a company that was highly recommended by some colleagues of mine that does background checks on all of their employees.  I was able to be at home the first couple times they came and that helped ease my mind.  (It is the same people every time.)  And, honestly, at some point I just decided that I like not having to clean myself more than I dislike having someone else in my house to do it!
  • We "know" a lot of other people she cleans for (in our building and neighboring buildings).  She would be a fool to steal from any of us because we would all tell the ohers and she would have no business left.  Of course, that alone doesn't give me complete comfort so it is a bit of a leap of faith.  Considering that she found one of my diamond earings under the bed and left it out with a note for me, I think we're good.

Ditto. We put our heirloom jewelry and guns (DH is a cop) in the office with me when the crew is here.

  • Ok, now you all are going to laugh at me, because though potential stealing was on my mind, finding our "naughty drawer" was my first worry.

  • The cleaning woman we hired has worked for our friends for 2 years and they had nothing but good things to say about her so we had her come out for an estimate and met her.  Sometimes I was home, but other times DS and I went out while she was here.
