My breastfed baby won't take a bottle. I've tried Dr. Browns, Nuby, Breastflow, Medela, Evenflo. He just screams until I get home. My husband, mother-in-law and I have all tried and he refuses. I don't know what to do anymore. He used to take a bottle with no problem. I feel like I'll never be able to leave. I would like to have an occasional date with my hubby.
What bottle/ nipple worked for you? I know there must be something he'll like.
Re: In tears over bottles
DS is the exact same way so while I can't help, I totally understand where you're coming from. We've tried Medela, Avent, Breastflow, Dr. Brown's, Playtex Drop Ins, Born Free, and several others I can't think of. The thing is, he used to take the Medela bottles no problem up until about 7/8 weeks. I never needed to give him one after that, so I didn't. DH and I went to a wedding on Friday and left him with a sitter for 6.5 hours. She tried everything, including using a medicine dropper to at least get some milk in him. He took nothing. Somehow he didn't cry too much (or so she says), he slept, woke up and fussed a little, and fell asleep again.
I figure I'll keep trying, but the outlook is not good.
"You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
Please don't try this. I know it's hard when baby won't take a bottle, but their digestive systems are not ready for even an "itsy-bitsy" of jam and certainly not yogurt. Most pediatricians don't ok yogurt until 7 or 8 months.
We use Born Free bottles and DD has always done well going from breast to bottle with them. Good luck!
I am having this SAME problem.. used to take bottle, but now refuses....
I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but pedi said to give my mom a shirt that I have worn and not washed so that he will be reminded of my "smell" when he is eating...
Have you tried a faster nipple? My friend's daughter wouldn't take a bottle until she got a really fast nipple. My friend has a fast letdown and I think that's probably just what her DD is used to.
Just keep trying over and over. At home, replace a normal nursing session with a bottle feed. LO will get the hang of it.
