I posted this on the third trimester site but wanted input from this group as well -
Should I keep a couple/few packages of sanitary pads for home after our LO is born? How long do you think it will be necessary to use them? Thanks in advance!
Ditto what everyone has said. I would suggest buying some different sizes as well. I used the hospital ones, then moved onto overnight, and 3 weeks later am using the standard absorbency ones.
I started out using the hospital ones, and then after two days I went to using the overnight pads, which I used for about another week. Then I used the regular pads, and now I'm just using long pantiliners.
You'll want to change the pads probably every 3-4 hours, so you'll want to buy at least one large (36-48) pack of each absorbency level.
I highly recommend pads that have "wings", by the way.
Oh yeah...I bled for a little over three weeks and my period has already came back...and no way am I going to use tampons yet...nothing is going in there anytime soon. lol
I took a bunch of hospital pads home at first. O was a big baby and I was wrecked down there. The hospital pads were big and bulky and provided some cushioning so I could sit without crying, lol. After those wore out, I went through a box of overnights and then half a package of regulars and finally down to liners.
You'll need more than a few and you'll need the big thick ones. I bled for four weeks. And, we aren't talking about a little blood ...we're talking blood bath
