I have an induction in two weeks and my midwife suggested taking the oil and cohosh to help soften my cervix. What dosage are you taking daily of Evening Primrose & Black Cohosh? Also, are your taking oil vaginally or oral? Are you taking red raspberry leaf as well?
Re: For those that are taking Evening Primrose, Black Cohosh
you should really do your own research on black cohosh. Its' very dangerous and not really recommended unless as a complete last resort. and should NEVER be done before 40 weeks.
I take 1000 mg of EPO orally and will start 1000MG vaginally next week
I'm using 1000-2000 mgs of EPO.
Not taking any Black Cohash, or Red Raspberry Leaf Tea.
I'm 4 cms and 70% effaced as of last Tuesday... but I was 3 cms and 50% effaced before taking ANYTHING.
I take 1000mgs orally and 1000mg vaginally.
You can take EPO by mouth after 34 weeks and vaginally after 36 weeks.
I take 2000mg of EPO by mouth and 2000mg vaginally at bedtime. Wear a pad as you may get some leakage, if you aren't wearing pads already.
Don't know anything about Black Cohosh.
Raspberry Leaf Tea doesn't induce labor. It merely helps with contractions, perhaps shortening labor length and post partum bleeding. I drink as much tea I want everyday. My midwife told me to drink a pint but I don't think I drink that much.
ETA- my midwife told me how much to take! I would consult your midwife on exactly how much they want you to take and how they want you to take it (by mouth or vaginally).
