Dumb question about BumGenius

Can they be used without the inserts for a 7 week old baby? I have some that a friend gave me that i want to try out but she didnt include inserts. I just ordered some online, but i wanted to know if i can try them without. Kind of a dumb question, but i have never used cloth diapers.

TIA

Re: Dumb question about BumGenius

  • I wouldn't (nothing in there to really absorb anything besides a thin layer of fabric), but do you have any prefolds? You can use those as inserts!

  • No, I am so a cloth diaper virgin its not even funny. I used disposables with my first two and up until now but i want to try the BG. My friend gave me ones she isnt using anymore to try out before i buy any. The only thing i have remotely close is the gerber cloth diapers which we use for burp cloths. I should wait for the inserts then?
  • The BG shells won't absorb anything without some sort of soaker inside.  You could fold up a couple of washcloths, or small hand towels to use as soakers.  Just make sure they're 100% cotton.

Yep, you need something in them.  I was going to suggest washcloths too :)

  • The Gerber ones would work at first.  We have stuffed ours before with washcloths and burp cloths.

So know that they may still be a teensy bit for your LO so if they leak, try again in a couple of weeks. Big Smile
