My friend said that her DS' Dr. wants to give him 2 flu shots again this year.
I asked if maybe she somehow forgot that he already had the first ones last year, and she said no, but that she still wants to give him 2 again this year...? This friend is the type to never ever ask questions and go along w/ whatever the Dr. says. The Dr is actually not even a pedi. She is either an allergist or a general Practitioner, but for whatever reasons, that is who she brings him to.
I expressed my confusion about why he would need 2 again but left it at that, b/c I am not 100% sure if there are indeed reasons for it.
Re: Is there ever a reason for *2* flu shots after the first year?
Well, maybe that's it. Although he gets all of his shots on the reg. schedule and has had no reactions to them, incl last year's flu shot, so I am not sure why they would feel the need for it w/ this. I am just so curious as to why she is doing this and it is not the first time things have struck me as "odd." But, not my kid, so I'll just have to wonder, I guess!
Nope, def. the reg. flu shot. I agree, I have only ever heard of needing one after the first year. Very odd.
Is there any chance your friend's kids are getting their first flu shot? I'm just curious, because we opted out of the Flu shot for DS last year, but not this year.
Good point. Yes, that is possible. They haven't been in daycare, so it's possible she didn't feel the need for them to get it last year.
