BOB stroller w/ swivel wheel for running?

We are thinking of getting the BOB Revolution, but we've also looked at the Ironman.

Basically, we really like the option of the swivel wheel for uses other than running, BUT does the Revolution work well as a jogging stroller too? We do intend to use it for running, but would like to be able to take it other places as well and not have to deal with the fixed front wheel on the Ironman.

?Anyone have one of these and want to offer advice? TIA!?

  • I like ours for running.  You can lock the front wheel so that it doesn't swivel.

  • If one has the option for both fixed and swivel, I don't see why anyone would want one that offers fixed only, unless it is truly only being used for running.

Have you read any reviews on joggingstroller.com? Maybe they could help. You can call and ask them questions as well. I am not a runner, so maybe there are pros and cons that I am not thinking of, but I can tell you that a fixed wheel for anything but running would be a huge pita.

  • I have the BOB stroller strides and I love the swivel wheel.  You can lock it to run, but I often leave it on swivel if I'm on uneven terrain, it works great.  I debated the Iron Man, but I'm really glad I got the swivel.

I have the BOB SUV that I use for running trails. The wheel does not swivel. I use another stroller (the bugaboo) for everyday use.

Off topic, but personally I don't see why anyone would buy a running stroller for anything other than running. Compared to the bugaboo, it's huge and cumbersome and doesn't maneuver all that well (we tried all the BOBs, including the revolution).

We have a second hand Baby Jogger with a fixed wheel, and we would never use it for anything but running. Unfortunately, the frame got bent or something and it pulls to one side, so we're replacing it.

Our only other stroller is a Maclaren, so the reason we're looking at swivel wheel running strollers is so we can also use it for walking on uneven surfaces, trails, etc. when the Maclaren is too lightweight but we wouldn't necessarily want an always-fixed wheel. But running would be the #1 purpose for this stroller, hence my concern about the wheel.

  • We use our BOB revolution for everyday and walks and a few jogs.  I think it manuvers great with the swivel wheel and it is very smooth to push and for DS.

  • We have the BOB Revolution and love it. It is the only stroller we have, and I wouldn't even consider getting another one. The swivel is great for walking on sidewalks, streets and shopping. I lock the front wheel for jogging and off-roading.
