1st Trimester

To throw up, or not to throw up...

That has been the question going on in my brain for the past 3 weeks. My m/s has been horrid, but I have such a fear of throwing up that for the past 3 weeks i've done everything NOT to throw up.

Today, I finally threw up for the first time. Strangly, I kind of felt better afterwards. So now i have the dilema to throw up, or not to throw up. I just hope the whole m/s thing is over soon.

Re: To throw up, or not to throw up...

  • It normally helps to throw up. Unless it?s pure acid from having nothing in your stomach. In that case it is way worse because of the taste. And it makes my throat hurt.

The dr. just gave me some nastyass gel to drink so that doesn?t happen anymore. It worked this morning.

  • I'll be honest and say that I always feel better after throwing up.  It sucks donkey balls, but at least I don't feel nauseous for awhile afterwords.

  • I dont have m/s and hope to avoid it but I totally go for the throw up option because I always feel better after I do!

  • I always feel better after I throw up. It's strange, cause after I do, I am able to eat afterwards.

  • Stp avoiding it go puke.  If you try not to, you'll feel bad longer.  If you are nauseus and feel like throwing up, do it.  You'll feel better as eveidenced by you feeling better after you throw up.  Get over the fear you are making yourself feel worse.  IMO it's like ripping off a band aid.  It hurts worse if you do it fast but, it's over sooner.  Prolonging the inevitable just makes it hurt longer.

  • Well if you m/s is severe enough that you are vomitting frequently you are much better off avoiding it if possible. You will dehydrate yourself and weaken your body from lack of nourishment. If you have managed to not throw up for a few weeks then it clearly isn't to that point and throwing up on occassion won't hurt you. Trust me though, if it gets worse and you find yourself throwing up every meal you will be much worse off in the long run than if you battle it out to keep something down.
