SS was adamant he wanted to be a vampire. Then BM fell in love with a monkey costume from Old Navy. SS put in on, and won't take it off. He also won't take out the vampire teeth. So.... vampire monkey? Lol... little boys are so cute
Rani is going to be with her mom this year, and it sounds like she decided on a witch. She wasn't yet 3 last year, but we dressed her as a little devil - complete with fake tattoos. She wasn't really enthused about the trick or treating, but she loved her costume.

DS will be Prince Charming and DD will be Cinderella. DS loves Cinderella so I thought it would be cute. This is probably the last year where I get to pick for him.
Jen - Mom to two December 12 babies
Nathaniel 12/12/06 and Addison 12/12/08
SS & SD are going to be Darth Vader & Princess Leah and I'm not sure about the 2 yr old twins. Any Suggestions for two cute little girls for their first official halloween?????

Older SS is Anakin Skywalker, younger is Cad Bane and LO is Yoda. I'm debating a Princess Leia get up for me and Darth Vader for J, but I don't know if I can sell him on it...
Plus, older SS pointed out Dad would be "stealing" his costume since technically Anakin and Darth Vader are the same person. lol
Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
My SS's will be with their mom visiting relatives in another state and youngest SS (he's 10) decided he was to old to dress up. So it sounds like they will not be going out. Maybe he will change his mind.

DD wants to be a pirate, so she is gonna be a pirate.

So excited! I emailed a woman from Craigslist last night and I just got an email back that I can buy an Amidala costume for $10. Now I'll match the boys. Next, I've got to work on J...

Not to start anything, but how is a member of a distinct ethnicity considered a costume? I mean, no one says they are going to dress up as an African-American or anything like that...how is one okay while the other is not?

Maybe because we don't wear all the beautiful "dress" (not sure what to call it) that they do for special events in their culture and have special ceremonies. Actually, now that I think of it, I did go as Harriet Tubman one year! So I guess I have dressed up as an african american (eventhough I am part african american).

I think Lucky was trying to be PC and not say her SK was dressing up as an Indian. Kids dress up like cowboys and indians all the time...it's not a race thing.

It's not okay. It is offensive.
I have worn traditional dress to be part of a sacred ceremony. It's not anything I would lend out as a Halloween costume.
ETA: Sorry, Lucky. I know the last thing you need right now is more on your plate, but I would rethink the "costume."
ETA, A: Here are a few reasons why it's offensive: Most portrayals of Indigenous dress involve mish-mashing traditions of various tribes across the continent with different cultures, languages, and clashing views. Many of the elements used also have sacred meanings to different peoples. It would be akin to my dressing my son as a "Caucasian" and putting him in Lederhosen with a Roman war helmet and a powdered wig, with a star of David on his breast and a Nazi swastika on his arm. Sure, they're all European, but they don't really belong together as a costume.

This is something we are still thinking about. The kids have always been with BM, so this is our first year to be trick or treating with them.?
SS has a Jack Sparrow costume that he'll probably use. SD wants to be a butterfly....... not sure how I will pull that off. We have some wings and this cool snow princess outfit, so I may have her dress in that. She sounded excited regardless. ?

HA HA! That is incredibly cute!

I love "non walking" costumes.

I guess my LO is going as a Native American Yoda, but his everyday costume is a Native American, so I didn't think to mention it.
EEEEeeeee!

My twins are going to be Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Doctor Suess.
Yea it's not much imagination but she refuses to wear the witch dress and hat. He refuses to wear his Thomas the Train cap.
