2nd Trimester

When did you get the "I feel great!" part of 2nd tri? (If at all?)

I keep reading and hearing about how people hit 2nd tri and they just wake up and feel so much better. WTEWYE touts it as "the best part of your pregnancy."  What do you girls think? When did you start to feel better? I have been sooo tired this week and felt pretty darn nauseous all day today, in addition to the headaches that have been new to me in the past two weeks or so...  Did you still have a lot of symptoms in your 2nd tri or no?

Re: When did you get the "I feel great!" part of 2nd tri? (If at all?)

  • I think I am backwards...1st was good...now I just feel like crap!
  • Loading the player...
  • Right about 16 weeks or a little after.

I got headaches a TON, bouts with nausea & extreme exhaustion ALL THE TIME but in all honestly thats ALL gone now! (I do get a little gaggy at gross things)

Im still not sleeping great but if that's all I have to deal with Im ok.

    I will get better.

  • Maybe 18 weeks or so for me.  I still feel really good most of the time, but I'm beginning to get moments of being very uncomfortable.  I'm carrying really high so the baby likes to get comfy right in between my ribs and then I feel pressure on my diaphraghm until he/she moves.  I still have lots of energy though!

  • i has the WORST headaches at the end of 1st and into the beginning of the 2nd. theyre finally easing up a little. I have my days of feeling sick, and still pretty tired, but compared to 1st tri its easier. more energy, less sick days, ect.

    You'll get there!

  • About a couple of weeks ago. Honestly since week 10 I've only had headaches - other than that I am fine.
  • M/S started at 10 1/2 weeks for me but 13 weeks on the dot is when I got my "I feel Great!" moment. No more nausea or tiredness.

I can eat, sleep and poo again :P

The only symptom now (so far) is a endless hunger

  • Around 16 weeks.  I still have the really sore boobs and insomnia.  But, the nausea, diziness, tiredness and headaches are gone.

  • 1st tri was bad, and continued in the first part of 2nd. I've been slowing feeling better the last 1 1/2. I heard (cant remember if from a book or the doc) between 14 & 16 the placenta starts taking over and that helps your hormones stablize a little.  I still have bad days but my good days are starting to out number the bad.

  • Don't know... Still waiting and almost at 18 weeks. Beginning to wonder if it's just a myth...

  • I'm not as nauseous, but I am still on zofran. As long as I keep up with it I'm good. But I haven't got the energy or any of that good stuff they say you get:(
  • About 15 weeks.

    I had really awful m/s from weeks 6 - 12 and then terrible headaches from 12 - 15.

Now, I forget I'm pregnant when she's not moving.

  • I finally got some energy back a couple weeks ago.  I've been on BP meds for the first time ever and they totally make me tired so I think it took me longer than normal to get my energy level back.
  • I'm feeling pretty great right now, but I never had much M/S to begin with.
  • I was miserable until the start of my 16th week - horrible all day sickness, plus migraines.  Even then, it was only ok, until last night - felt tummy flutters (which are fairly frequent now) and had an u/s so I can officially think of my baby as my son :)  So not only do I feel better but I can enjoy my pregnancy!

  • For me it's never been an "I feel great" difference.  But 2nd tri (by 16 wks) was a relief from constant nausea, hating food, and extreme exhaustion.  You really don't get a relief from symptoms until 4-5 mo.
  • I started to feel real good at about 12 weeks.  I've only had a couple of headaches.  I get real tired in the afternoon still.

Don't worry too much about what has happened to others because everybody and every pregnancy is different.

  • I was never severely sick, but started feeling much better and a lot less tired around week 13. Of course, now I have a cold, so I feel like garbage for a different reason.
    So it goes.
  • Once the gagging stopped (at about 11-12 weeks) I felt great. Then 2-3 days ago the gagging started up again. At least this time it only happens when I come across strong smells (good or bad) and dizziness started yesterday. I'm starting to think that my "I feel great" days are either over or their going to come in waves.

    same

  • 18 weeks or so. I was never nauseous just really tired.
  • Around 20 weeks I felt better but wouldn't go saying I feel great! My pregnancy has been kind of blah for me very tiring and I had bad MS until I was about 19 weeks and still get sick in the am if I don't eat right away.
  • Well, the nausea and extreme exhaustion eased up right around 11 weeks.  But for me, 2nd tri is almost as bad--just different symptoms. :(  I have headaches, insomnia, shortness of breath, dizziness, increasingly bad back/hip pain, etc, etc, etc......I HATED the constant nausea of 1st tri, but definitely do not think 2nd tri is some wonderful relief from all the symptoms!  Hopefully you feel better soon!
  • I'm still waiting myself.  By week 12 of my first pregnancy I was ready for anything.... this time, not so much!
  • 12w!! I have to keep reminding myself I'm prego :)
  • The nausea eased up around 11-12 weeks, but the tiredness didn't really get better until about 16 weeks.  I still get tired easily, but it's not the exhaustion of 1st tri.

I still feel best when I'm not pregnant though because I can't get a really great workout in anymore.  I don't get the "I feel the best I've ever felt" thing...

  • I experienced tiredness in my first tri but that was it.  Have basically felt great the entire time...minus the frequent urination and the big soccer ball in my tummy.  I am now starting to experience back pain though...not so "great" anymore!!
  • Still waiting =)
  • At 24w0d to 24w1d.?

I thought it was supposed to be longer than 2 days.........?

  • For me, I felt great starting at 14-16 weeks.  I still feel good most of the time, but my reflux is bad, and I'm having a harder time getting it under control than I did pre-pregnancy.  I'm generally sleeping better over all, and am able to get back to sleep after the overnight pee (first tri, I was usually not able to go back to sleep, so I was tired all day!)

Hope your symptoms lessen over the next couple of weeks.

  • I'm still waiting for what everyone tells me is going to be like "a light switch" and I'll feel better in 2nd tri.  So far, not true.  I'm still throwing up every morning, feeling nauseous all day long, have an aversion to all foods & can barely eat & in the last two weeks have started to get migraines.  Oh and the extreme tiredness during the day, yet insomnia at night are still here too.  I'm really hoping for some relief sometime soon.

  • Between 18 and 23 weeks I felt GREAT, not a single complaint.  I have my good days and my bad days....I've had a few bad days with the swelling and pain in my legs...but today was a decent day.  (Whoo-hoo, I'm just about 25 weeks!!)

  • I'm 18 weeks and still have days when I feel really fantastic, and days (like today) when I feel like crap -- tired, dizzy, lethargic, etc.
