I think this is one of those words that many of you do not like to hear. I heard it for the first time today and I don't want to hear it again. DS was doing so good with feeding from the bottle, but since they increased his feeding he is having reflux issues. Anyone familiar with the term "brady"? Thats waht the nurse called it when his heart rate dropped during feeding. Today DS had a throat study to see how bad the reflux is. The doc is still waiting to read the report. He said since DS had a "spell" they were going to hold off on disharge .... uuurrrg .... today was supposed to be the day. Oh well, I guess it is better to keep him longer and know he is okay rather than take him home too early and have to go back. It is just a little frustrating.
Re: My LO had a "spell"
Ah yes, bradies. We know them well. Both Charlie and Lily had them with feedings in the beginning, and Lily still has them occassionally after feedings due to reflux. In fact, they kept her in the NICU four days longer than Charlie. She was eventually just sent home even though she still had bradies. Hang in there - it's usually something they outgrow fairly quickly.
