isn't teething supposed to get easier?

I always heard that teething is supposed to get easier on your LO - that they get used to it.  Well, this is DD's 3rd round, and I think each one has gotten worse!  She got her bottom two before 5 months, her top two before 8 months, and now she's working on her next top teeth, and this is the most miserable she's been.  She seemed to be coping really well at the end with the top front (even though I swear she worked on those for 3 months), so I was hoping these would be easier.

Please tell me it will get better!

Re: isn't teething supposed to get easier?

  • Not in our experience... Molars and eyeteeth have been far worse than the first front eight. They just take forever to come in. As an example, in July Adam's pedi said that all four eyeteeth were coming in. The first two of those four came in last week. That's three months of extra drool, biting and hands in the mouth at all times. Sorry to disappoint!

  • At least I know I'm not imaging it.  That makes me feel somewhat better.   Now, if I could only make DD feel better.
  • I have also heard that some of the later teeth can be the most painful.
  • Molar's are a horrible experience and they take forever!  Hang in there.
  • Ethan's central incisors didn't bother him too much but his lateral incisors (esp the top ones) were tough.  I'm not looking forward to molars as I hear they are the most difficult.  Hope she's feeling better!
