yup, I'm complaining already

My ILs always come on Friday at dinner time (5ish) and leave on Sunday after breakfast.  One time they stayed until Monday and left without saying goodbye in the AM.   Even though they knew we were awake. 

So I planned a nice dinner for tonight since I didn't think I would cook again.  We usually eat out for lunch on Saturday since we are out and about and my ILs are happy to pick at their leftovers from lunch at dinner time.  "We are not big eaters. We are on diets."   Plus DH and I are going out so I didn't plan a meal. 

Anyhow, I had planned this dinner when I found out they were coming a few weeks ago.   I was making this pork dish for us and I made an extra tenderloin and threw it in the freezer.  I defrosted it last night.   I was planning to make home made spaetzle (which is like a pasta/dumpling thing).  

I just found out that they haven't left West Palm yet and they are planning to get here around 10pm.    "Just have a light snack and some champagne when we get there."   grrrrr!!

Oh also, they are planning to sneak out again on Sunday morning.  "We don't like goodbyes."

So I am busting my ass cleaning and getting ready for them to be here for one day.  I feel like we are just a bed and breakfast layover on their way to NYC.   I know I should be grateful they are not staying longer, but I am seriously annoyed that I am finding out TODAY that they are only here for one day.        

 So if anyone wants to come over for bacon wrapped pork with cherry duxelle, home made spaetzle and sauteed string beans, I have PLENTY!!

    Ugh!  They aren't even here yet and already they are making you crazy.  No fair, Michele!  On the bright side, the countdown until they leave is even shorter than you expected.

    If you need someone to help with the meal, I'm allowed to eat again today! :)

    That sounds lovely!  If I lived closer I would certaintly come help with that :)  Since they aren't getting there till so late, I'd totally have some friends over for dinner, it will put you in a good mood for their arrival!

    Ditto this, have a nice dinner party and enjoy yourself after all the hard work you're doing to get the house and dinner ready. Sorry they suck. :(

    Woooo! I'm THERE! Your spaetzle is super tasty.

    Sorry they're being such PITAs. You should charge them a room and boarding fee. Whatever, just be thankful they're only there for one day. And next time, don't bother cleaning. :)

    Rob's folks have done the same to us. They told us they'd be there for lunch and then showed up at 4 in the afternoon. No call, no nothing.
