Old Navy sizing question

Does the Old Navy maternity stuff tend to run small, large, or neither?

I am planning to order some pants for work (the suit-like pinstripe ones, if it makes a difference), and I don't know if I should get the 16s or 18s. I was kinda in between the two sizes (though more towards the 16 end of things) pre-pregnancy, but a) I have a bit of a booty and b) I am pregnant with twins.

TIA for the advice! Smile

Re: Old Navy sizing question

  •  I bought jeans there a size smaller than I normally wear at other stores.

  • Their regular maternity clothes seem pretty true to the size I wore pre-pg, but the maternity coat I bought was on the small side.  Because you're expecting twins (congratulations!), I would maybe opt for the size up from where you normally are, especially if you were kind of in between sizes.

  • They run big. I wear a size 4-6 normally, and I bought medium pants and jeans in maternity size, and they are big. The shirts run even bigger. I am a 34DD and the medium shirts are ginormous. Buy a couple of pieces at first and then do your big purchase once you know what your size is.

  • I have to size down with everything in maternity wear, so I may not be a good judge.  Pre-pregnancy, my clothes were all size 6 or 8 and small or medium tops.  Now all my maternity pants are size 2 or smalls and my tops are all XS or S.  So in my experience, you need to size down.

  • I'm around 16/18 and the sizes seem pretty true. I got xl or regular size in maternity and they fit...haven't worn them yet but will probably start in the next week!
  • I am a size two normally and bought size four maternity jeans there.  There wasn't much of a difference in size so I opted for the bigger ones because who knows how big I'll get pregnant.  I wear XS or S in shirts and that is the same in maternity.

  • I have 2 pairs of maternity jeans and 1 pair of cords from them.  The jeans are true to size, the cords are too big.  I know that really isn't much help!
  • Just a warning about the pants, even in "short" some of the styles, like the jeans, are still really long. I'm 5'4 and the low rise boot cut jeans I bought from ON only fit when I wear high heels.

  • Their shirts run large, but will shrink a bit.

  • I think it fits pretty true to size, maybe runs a little big. I'm a 12 normally and the L fits with room to grow over the coming weeks. I order XL for lounge pants just because I generally prefer them to be bigger.
  • They seem to run pretty true for me.  I did order my shirts a little larger (L when I usually wear M) because my chest is much bigger than pre-pregnancy.   When in doubt grab a measuring tape and use their size charts.  It seemed to help me.

     Congrats on the twins!!!

This helps! I never know what size I am regularly. Sometimes small, sometimes even large. I'm also a 34DD so I'll probably go with a small shirt if the medium is huge. You never know with that store, plus things stretch sometimes. Thanks!

  • I bought some yoga pants, L, and I wore a 10 or 12 pre-pregnancy. They still feel pretty big, and not just in the waist. Of course, they're stretchy so I probably should have gone with a medium. The shirts that were 100% cotton shrank in the wash (cold wash/low dry) to where they fit pretty well, but the cotton/modal blends didn't really shrink and still feel pretty big.
