Dryer Balls aren't working as well...

When I first got my dryer balls (Fuzzy Wuzzy on Etsy) they worked awesome and we had NO static. Lately, we're starting to get more static in the clothes. Is it just the weather (getting colder here) or is there something I can do to the dryer balls to make them work better? Should I be washing them or something?
