So I just left my 32 week appt and my blood pressure was up a little to 130/80. I have been consistently 120/70 my entire pregnancy. I also had a little sugar in my urine, so he told me to lay off the waffles for breakfast... ugh! I have eaten waffles almost every day since I got pregant and now I have to give them up. He didn't seem worried at all though. Also, my baby weighed in at a whopping 5 lbs 2 weeks ago. My doctor said today that I am definitely working on a big baby. DH and I were both almost 10 lbs when we were born so I guess this is normal. However, my doc told me this morning that this means he will probably not let me have a vaginal delivery. He said that shoulder distocia (sp?) is one of the biggest fears for big babies so I will more than likely have a c-section. Has anyone else been told this? He is going to do another ultrasound at 36 weeks to see how big he is then and decide what to do. I definitely won't be making it to my due date... that is for sure.
Re: 32 week appt
I wouldn't consent to a section based on growth ultrasounds.
I would take his advice into consideration but I'd definitely not consent to anything until much further along.
FWIW, also, babies hit huge growth spurts if you consume a lot of sugar (the reason why GD babies are usually large) so considering your urine and such you may want to be careful with sugar in your diet to make sure you aren't adding to the large babe unintentionally... try sugar free syrup and keep your pancakes!
