Babies: 9 - 12 Months

jar, I don't know how you do it

we used to eat out a lot, relatively speaking. Lunch Sat/Sun and dinner out at least once a week.

since Dash was born, we've been cutting back.

and in the last 30 days, we have not eaten out ONCE.

I really, really, really, really miss it. I don't mind cooking. I like saving money. But MAN, I just love eating out.

Re: jar, I don't know how you do it

  • It is simple. This will sound terribly snotty so please forgive me...but here it goes.

I can cook better than 99% of the places we would go eat. If we go out it is more for the social aspect. I always feel like it was a waste to go out to eat unless it was something I don't make because it is too complicated. But that does not leave much.

This!  Plus we can't eat at restaurants because of allergies and intolerances.

We haven't gone out to eat in well over a year.

I love the social aspect too. I love not having to worry about pots and pans and timing and keeping nosy children away from hot ovens. I love being waited on, having someone else take care of my needs for a change.

Wow, that says a lot more about me than I realized. Wink

  • I enjoy eating out occasionally, especially sushi, because I am terrible at making that myself.  However, the thought of trying to eat out at a nice place with a child in tow saps all possibility of enjoyment.  Maybe I'll get someone to babysit DD on a special occasion, but I agree with JAR and AW.  Home cookin' is typically better.

I think it says your human.  I to like when we go out to eat.  No cooking, no cleaning up, no washing dishes nothing.  I think for me it stems that is just what I do every single day and it gets old.  I am always cooking, or cleaning up after a meal.  Sometimes I think it just what I do all day and I love and enjoy cooking.

The last 2 fridays I have told my DH that I have been craving wings, simply for the fact that I know he loves them and I am just sick of cooking by friday.

We have only gone out to eat 3 times since the twins were born.  2 of the times were for social events (birthdays and such) and 1 time to a hamburger joint.

We don't eat out more simply for the fact that we are trying to save money being that my DH is the only one working right now.

  • Jen-stick with me, I'll show you the way...

    gather round children...

    huddle up...

    I DON'T DO DISHES.

oh, honey, already THERE. DH does the dishes. EVERY. NIGHT.

But I still have to look at the mess and hear him sigh about it.

  • We have saved soooo much money since DD was born because we no longer eat out. We'd go out at least 3 times a week for any given meal. We can both cook (very well), and don't mind the clean-up... it's just nice to have some place new to go and experience.

We have gone out to eat once since DD was born. ONCE! lol. I think it's time to go out again.
