Do you have a humidifier in LO's room?

Do you run it all winter. or only if sick? We have a whole house humidifier hooked up to the furnace, but I don't really think it works well.

I woke up at 2am last night REALLY thirsty due to my mouth hanging open while I slept! lol

I got up to get a drink and Ryan was awake too, just tossing and turning. I went to feed him, even though he probably wasn't hungry I thought maybe he was thirsty too.

I am wondering if I should get and run one in his room.

  • We run it whenever the heat is on, and actually in the summer when the a/c has been on for several days. We have a portable humidifier that works for our entire living area, but I find it still helps to have one in his room.

  • We have one in Eva's room that we run all winter (it's one of the main reasons her doctors think she didn't have an asthma attack until spring). ?I've found it helped a lot with her sleeping too- they are great for white noise!

  • We got one for my son's room when he got his first really bad cold that included a terrible cough.  We honestly didn't feel like it did anything to help so we really haven't used it since.  I always thought the air coming out of it should feel moist.  With his it just feels like cold dry air coming out.

  • Before we got our new furnace w/ the humidifier, we always used one when he was sick.

Can you pick up a humidity guage to check the level in the house?  We use one even now to make sure the setting is ok.
