My MIL insists that a baby needs a onesie on underneath EVERYTHING..no matter if its a sleep sack, an outfit, or pj's.....do you think this is true? I was just planning on putting one on under outfits or anything rough or scratchy.......
My mom says to imagine wearing what the baby is wearing. So, would you feel comfortable wearing a onesie under what you're wearing? If not, the baby wouldn't either.
I did a onesie under everything with R but now I got so used to not using them, that I find them to be a PITA on B. Once his stump falls off, I won't use them under one piece things. They are great under pants and non onesie shirts though.
Uh, this isn't a true or false kind of question. If it's cold, you could add one under an outfit to layer up. I usually put one under DD's pj's but thats about it.
We put DS in a onesie under everything because it's really cold here. I wish we had more long-sleeved onesies to put him in underneath his sleep sacks.

Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!

Now that its cold, I do under a lot of her outfits. Especially since her tops ride up and I don't want her back and belly exposed. I guess I don't put one under her pjs.

Sorry for not clarifying. On the People of Walmart website this had a caption stating that it looked as though this guy was wearing an adult onesie. It's obvious this was a total fail on my part.
Not unless we're going out. Our house is at 72 degrees, he doesn't need an extra layer.
Same here. I was putting them under her sleeper at night since it's already snowing here (dang it's only OCTOBER!) and DH pointed out that it didn't get any colder in the house...good point, I guess.
We do onesies under sleepsacks/swaddles at night. Otherwise most newborn and 0-3 month clothes consist of onesies with matching bottoms. Truthfully, LO will be in sleepers and gowns and staying in your house for the most part during those first several weeks anyhow. We don't put onesies under jammies/gowns.

I put a onesie under just about everything. I didnt' int he summer when he was first born, but now its COLD! Day & night my kid has a oneise on under everything. However growing up we always had to wear undershirts from fall-spring. Right now he has on a onesie, socks, gown & sleepsack. He was just fussing & felt cold, I put a blanket to his waist & he is out. But I have a kid who "runs cold"

Re: MIL disagreement....onesies under everything?
sounds like a PITA for diaper changes.
your MIL would hate me. DD rarely wears anything but a onesie.

Same here & we haven't had a problem (granted it's not super cold in SoCal).

ummm I don't put a onesie under anything...
Maybe if I lived in a colder climate (we're in TN) or when it gets to be really chilly here I will, but he'd get way too hot.
