At 1 week +, he won't find much interesting in his crib. Try a bouncy seat or a swing - he'll dig the movement, which at this point is the best way to "entertain" him without holding him
Sometimes when he's in his quiet-alert phase I'll put him down in his glider chair or lay him on his back in the PNP. He looks around for a little bit. Sometimes he falls asleep.
After a little while, if he gets bored, he let's us know and we cuddle him again.

at a week/2weeks old, truett spent a lot of time in his PnP. i found out the music box that came with it was soothing to him. i'd get him nice & comfy in it, turn the box on & he was in heaven, lol. he would then go to sleep. he was usually awake for only an hour or 2 at a time.
at one week, our baby pretty much woke up to eat, then went back to sleep
This. DD was usually either eating or snoozing soundly on one of our chests at any given point. In the rare moment she was awake she was just happy to be looking around.
Not much. At 1 week she was pretty much sleeping all day.
This. She was either eating, sleeping, or pooping/peeing. DD hates her swing and loves being in our arms so she's temp. attached to a human, whether it's me, DH, my sister, anyone.
Thanks....my mom was saying that we're conditioning him to need to be "on someone" at all times. I feel better now.
Definitely don't worry about having your baby on you all the time now. My LO is just now starting to sleep places without being on one of us. You can't spoil a baby that young and you can't set any bad habits that are irreversible!

ITA. For their first 3 months of life they don't have the ability to manipulate anyone. A child just wants their basic needs met. By attending to their needs, whether it's feeding, changing, or just snuggling while he/she sleeps you're helping them to feel safe and secure and they know they can rely on mom and dad to be there for them. I read that this can lead to an adult that feels secure in themselves. Ignore any naysayers that tell you you're spoiling your child. If your child needs cuddling then do it! Sooner or later they're not going to want to snuggle with you and you'll miss those days!
He loved the vibrating part of the newborn napper on the PNP- he would nap in that. And he loved the swing, and being held. He really just ate, slept and pooped for the first month
