Success after IF

For those that had IVF, a question.

How careful did your RE want you to be during the TWW? What about during pregnancy?

A little explanation behind the question is in order: DH is a quad who needs help getting in bed at night. I have to lift his legs and swing them up onto the bed. He's 6'1", so they aren't light. Should I ask MIL to come help? Not worry about it? Ask the RE, right?

TIA

Re: For those that had IVF, a question.

  • I was on bedrest for 48 hours after my ET then light lifting and excercise til my beta.  Sex was ok after my bedrest was complete but was instructed to take it easy.

During pregnancy that was up to my OB since my RE did not treat me while pregnant, however once I was released to the OB I was just your ordinary pregnant woman.

  • I wasn't really given any weight restrictions until after ET, and really all I can remember is they said no heavy lifting/no vacuuming during 2ww.  I never really questioned what they meant by heavy lifting.  I would definately ask your RE, and not be surprised if they tell you that you'll need to get some assistance.

    GL!!!

  • Thanks ladies! I really appreciate the insight. MIL will be moving in for a while! Indifferent

  • My RE said no exercising or physical lifting after my ET. No twisting while I was on stims.

During my pregnancy, my OB has said no lifting over 30 lbs.

    Good luck!!

  • My RE said to go aboult life as normal after the ET. No bed rest, no weight restrictions. My OB said no "heavy lifting" meaning nothing over 50lbs. once I was PG. I would ask though just to make you feel better
  • My RE said bedrest for 24 hours and no lifting over 25lbs after that.  A lot of the restrictions are relative to what your body is used to.  I would discuss with your RE, but I would determine if this is appopriate based on how difficult it is for you to do this now.  Honestly, while I honored the bedrest for 24 hours and the over 25lbs, I wasn't immobile.  Just don't want you to go through mil having to be there if she does not.  GL!!

  • definitely NO HEAVY LIFTING! I think you are going to need some assistance. don't risk it.

    good luck with your cycle!
