Ok. I'm still BFing twice a day--first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I think I'm at the stopping point. I've been there for a while but now I don't know whether to wean her off of these or just stop. The morning feeding is easy to fix--I'll just give her a bottle instead. But the night feeding I'm dreamfeeding her and I'm afraid she'll wake up crying. That and I'm afraid I'll be in pain as well. She takes 3 bottles during the day so there's no issue there. WWYD? Wean or just switch her over cold turkey?
Re: Wean or cold turkey?
I would take one feeding at a time. Start with the morning bottle and get her (and you) used to not breastfeeding.
How many oz is she getting during the day? Does she need to be dreamfed? I'm not sure since we never did this with Jacob, but he hasn't been fed overnight since he was about 4 months old. He gets his last bottle around 7ish and gets fed the next time around 7am.
It might be an experiment you have to try to see if she wakes looking to be fed overnight. I would try it on a weekend when DH will be there too. And just try a couple of oz if she does wake.
Good luck!
I was down to 2 feedings a day when I quit. I stopped the morning feeding first. I had, and DS had, no issues with this. I did this for a few weeks and then dropped the night feeding - just gave him a bottle. Again, he was fine with this.
I was worried about being in pain, so I lined my bra with cabbage because *I heard it dries you up. I was never in pain and it did dry me up. I manually expressed in the shower once because I was a bit uncomfortable. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I, too, thought DS would cry and fuss because he wanted to BF. But he never did.
GL!
