Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Did your SO cry when your LO was born??

My DH did not. I made a video of the first 6 months of O's life and he cried watching that. I was really suprised! I think the only other time I've seen him cry is when he left for Iraq. His daughter is turning him into a softie!

  • Nope. I've never seen my DH cry.  That is so sweet of your DH though!!
  • He says he doesn't think so--he thinks he teared up but didnt' cry. Yes, I asked.

  • Oh yes, he sobbed. I love thinking about that moment :)

  • He cried for me. He said that my pathetic whimpering and his inability to help me made him so sad.

  • No.  He didn't have time to cry because Lillian wasn't crying and we were both freaking out.  He did cry the first time I got to hold her though.  :)

  • Dh was bawling so bad with his head down he couldn't even look up - I remember I was mad because I wanted him to look at her ( I had a c-sec so I was on the table) ... I kept say look look... haha!

  • no he didn't.  He's been more worried about DS's well-being over the past few months.

  • We both got teary. We looked at each other in awe. I think we were both shocked we had a son ;)
  • Yes!  I have only ever seen him cry 3 times in the seven years I've known him-- saying our vows at our wedding, when C was born, and when they sent C to the bigger NICU because she was really sick.  Okay that last one was a downer but it was still sweet because he was worried about his new baby.

  • No he didn't but I could tell he was in total awe....other then them putting her on my stomach for a few moments he got to hold her before I did as they were sewing me up...
  • I think DH teared up a little bit, but no crying.  The only times I've seen him cry was when his mom died, and when a friend from college died.

  • Nope.  He looked like he was going to be never did.  I've never seen him cry.  Of course I bawled like a baby but I cry all of the time!
  • No he didn't. Since I ended up having a C-section, he was too freaked out because the site of blood freaks him out. He was too scared that he was going to pass out. LOL He was in total awe when the baby was born though. He had a cheesy smile the whole time. This was my DH ----> Big Smile
  • he might deny it, but he did tear up when Iz was born. all i could see were his eyes since he was in scrubs (we were thiiiiis close to an emercency c-section) so i didn't get his whole facial expression, but he was one proud papa.
  • Nope, he was way too excited to meet her.

  • I don't know.  The second DS was born the Dr. put him in the bassinet thing, and ran out of the room with him.  He wasn't doing well.  DH followed never left DS's side until late.  I know I cried.
  • Nope. He was a total "deer in the headlights".  Sometimes he still has that look. lol

  • yup!
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

  • He didn't cry right at delivery.  I had a c-section and I was just yelling at him to take pictures.  And I think he was just so proud to have a baby, he had a perma-grin!

He did cry later that night, though.  DS was crying, and I started to sing to him... then all of the sudden I heard a sniffle, and I looked next to be and DH was bawling!!!  And then I think he cried another time either right before we left the hospital or right after we got home.  I just remember being in awe that DH had cried twice within a couple of days, and he rarely cries.

  • Yes, when he went over with the nurses to where she was being dried off.  I started to hemorrhage somewhat uncontrollably, and I remember looking over and seeing DH look over at me and start to cry.  I think he realized the enormity of the moment.

It's only the 2nd time in our 7 years together that I've seen him cry.

  • Neither of us cried, since she was so premature we were more concerned with B doing well and making it through the night. Good thing she's a fighter!
  • I know DH cried for at least 2 of our children's births...
