Success after IF

I am physically sick (warning sensitive issue inside)

A friend of mine who is a photographer just posted on her blog that one of her clients (9 months old) who she's photographed his whole life DIED from h1n1 today! I am SICK. I want to vomit.

I honestly do not understand how a baby could just die from the flu!  I want to just hold Brighton and ever let go.

I am just in shock.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • That's awful.  And that's what's so awful about the flu.  We like to think it's common, but people actually die from it, especially children, old people and pregnant women.  That's so incredibly sad.

  • That's so awful...this is why I'm terrified to leave the house or go back to work. We got an email yesterday that there's been a confirmed case at the school he's supposed to attend for daycare.

  • That is horrible news!!  I can't imagine what that family must be going through.  My prayers are with them.

  • My cousin who is 9 months old was admitted to intensive care this weekend for H1N1.  Well, really it was for the seizure and fever he had...but it was all related to the H1N1.  He's doing better, but it came on so suddenly...it's terrifying!

And that story is so sad...that poor family.

  • So Sad. I can't imagine what that family is facing. We had 2 PG mothers die (babies have both survived) in our town.

I am so conflicted about getting the H1N1 shot. The only thing that makes me want it is the protection it may provide my LO. The lack of research on PG women scared the sh!t out of me but stories like yours scare me even more.

  • That is so awful...and its stories like this that make me want to RUN, not walk, to get my H1N1 vaccine as soon as possible...and then keep Caroline at home till she's about 30 years old.

My prayers go out to that family...

  • That is very horrible... :-(

  • That is horrible.  My heart breaks for that family.  I don't know how you deal with something so tragic.

R is supposed to start daycare in November because my mom will be starting her chemo.  I know that I'll be a nervous wreck the minute he gets the sniffles.  UGH!

  • I am getting really scared of H1N1.  I think we will get the vax for Jack when it's available - and initially I wasn't planning on it.  But I'm reading too many stories like this.  And what I'm reading suggests it IS more of a threat to babies and kids than the regular flu.  Ugh.  Awful.  My heart BREAKS for that mother - I can't imagine.  Just too awful.
    Wheee!

  • how sad :( I am not trying to belittle this awful, awful loss or anything but hundreds of children die each year from the "regular" flu ....deaths from H1N1 are no where near as high as as from the regular flu this year... it's just that H1N1 is in the media so much right now....but this is why it is so important to vaccinate your LOs, they are so vulnerable when they are so young.  again, please don't take this the wrong way, every loss is tragic regardless of the cause... but I just wanted people to understand the importance of getting the flu vaccine each year for your babies (if they are old enough to get it)
  • OMG, how horrible!  That makes me sick as well.  How sad, and really scary!
