NBR:Online bill pay?

I've never really seen a need for it until now, I really honestly can't imagine sitting down and paying bills each month after the baby is here. Especially since everything has such weird due dates. But I love the idea that I can just pop online and pay them quick and easy!

Do you do online bill pay? or are you old school and send checks?

Re: NBR:Online bill pay?

  • I don't think I have mailed a check for anything in years... I pay everything online. Most of my payments are automatically deducted so I don't even have to think about them.

  • I've been using online bill pay for the last seven years and absolutely love it.  I know exactly how much money I spend out in bills a month and make sure that money is in the account.  We keep a separate account that we use for spending money so that there is no way of the bill money going missing and missing a payment.  Takes off a lot of stress.

  • I almost exclusively pay online. I check my bank account too- some months I dont even open the paper version.
  • I love online bill pay but have only used it for water and cable bills, I'm wondering now if I can do it for our car payments since there's no online pay system for them.  I'm sick of writing checks every month.

  • I love it and I've been using it since I've had a bank account!

Extremely easy and if you are going through your bank then you won't have to send any kind of personal info to the company you're making the payment to. When you're using a check, your account number is right there. If you go to the actual company's website to pay, you have to give them your account number directly. Through the bank, there is none of that extra info that needs to be given out...

  • The only check that I physically write is to our electric company, because they're ancient and don't have online bill-pay. Hell, they won't even take a credit card over the phone. It's cash or check only. Blech.

Everything else is online, with many bills set on auto-pay. Easy, easy.

This - every time we get paid, I just look back to see what typically clears during that time of the month and make my deductions.  I rarely have to do anything with my money.  For some reason, I still like having control over my mortgage b/c it's a much larger bill, but I still do this online - just not automatically withdrawn.

  • I pay my student loans, DH's credit cards, and car payment online. Everything else (mortgage, my credit cards, utilities, etc) I mail a check.
  • every single thing gets paid online, including our rent. It's all set up through our bank. If they don't do online payments, they just print out an actual check to the person and mail it anyhow. I've been doing it for probably ten years now. Shoot, I even have a couple bills on my credit cards so we get the reward points (we pay off at the end of every month).  I haven't had to write a check in years.
