TTC After a Loss

thinking of calling dr...or should I wait

this weekend will be 6 months since D&C...my cycles are still all out of whack, they last about 6-7 weeks.I do ovulate though but I don't ovulate until day 28-30...I thought I was getting AF last week which would have been normal for premc me but it looks like it was just spotting.  I know some doctors won't do anything for a year of problems so I don't know if I'd be wasting my breath on a call...WWYD?  Just wait it out and see if the next six months even me out or call?

  • It never hurts to call and ask.  Good luck!

  • I would call.  I guess when it comes down to it, I'd rather call at six months and have the doctor say to wait then wait and call at 12 months and the doctor says, "you should've called earlier!"  Best case scenario, the doctor helps you now.  Worst case scenario, you waste a phone call.

    Ditto. Good luck!

  • I agree - definitely call.  I would think they say 12 months for the people who have normal cycles, no m/c's, etc.  If your doctor won't see you, you can also try calling the RE to see if they would be willing to.

  • I'd call h im for sure! I was in a very similar situation. I felt the exact same way you do right now last week and I went to my dr yesterday. I got all the answers I needed and it made me feel way better about what was going on with my wacky cycles.

  • Call.  And, fwiw, I actually switched doctors from my prior Ob who was happy being patient about my body's wacked-outed-ness to my new Ob who is more proactive with forcing my cycles back on track.  Not that the meds are working so far, but at least we're trying.  Either is a medically acceptable way to go, so different docs will have different recs, and if you have a strong opinion about how proactive you want to be, you may want to look for a compatible Ob if your doc feels differently.
