3rd Trimester

Boob Question from a 2nd Trier - TMI

Ok, so here's the story: I usually sleep in a bra at night, but last night I took a bath and didn't put my bra back on. Well, this morning, I went to put it on and noticed that half of the surroundings of one of my nipples was swollen and a lil bit hot. It's a little better now, but it hurts alot. I have been leaking a little bit, not too much, but nothing bad. I don't remember anything like this with DD, before or after!

Please, has anyone else had this?? Is this normal??

  • I wonder if it could be mastitis?  It's more common when you are nursing, but can also happen while you are pregnant.  Do you have a fever or any other symptoms?

  • Nope, just one sore nipple. I did have a bubbles in the tub, could that have something to do with it?

  • Maybe there was something in bubbles that you are allergic too? I've gotten some strange skin reactions/soreness in general from bubble bath before.
  • This sounds like it could be a clogged milk duct...it's nothing serious. This happened to me a few weeks ago. You can alternate between hold and cold compress for a few hours a night which should help relieve some of the pain if it doesn't go away then you can ask your doctor. Sometimes rubbing it and expressing some of the colostrum out of your nipple can help. It took about a week for mine to clear up. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks! I'll have ot try that. I didn't think they could get clogged this early, but I guess anything's possible!
