DH is all for finding out. I have really been on the fence and leaning more towards not finding out. However, my big ultrasound is in 5 weeks and I am starting to lean the other way.
For me, I'd want to know. But I'm also the type of person that searches the house for my Christmas presents, I'm no good at surprises! Plus I'm a planner, I like to have everything decorated either girly or boyish, and I just don't think I could wait 9 months to find out!!! Why do you feel like you would rather not find out? If you reason for waiting is better than DH's reason for not waiting, then there you go.
THere is really no 'reason' it is just the surprise of it when they annouce "it's a..." at the hospital. I am a planner and surprise stalker as well so it surprised me that I would want to wait. That being said, I have gone clothes shopping a few times and have had a HORRIBLE time trying to find clothes that I like that are gender neutral.
DH doesn't have a reason other than he wants to know what color South Carolina jersey to buy. Lol.
Everyone in my family and his was dying for a girl (we were too) so we HAD to find out! She is the first girl in FI's side of the family in 26 years! If we have another I think it would be fun to be suprised. Maybe the u/s tech could tell your DH and he could keep it a suprise from you..
I'm team green and love finding others who wait, but with your SIL, I would find out just because of the name thing. You may have picked the names first, but what if she finds out and then steals your name? KWIM?
I didn't want to know (I felt like it was a boy from the time I found out I pg) but my DH did. We had them write in down in an envelope and seal it. I gave it to my DH for our anniversary. In retrospect, I'm glad we found out because I ended up with a c/s and was so out of it I wouldn't have had the enjoyment of a "surprise" moment anyway.

Karma, that is exactly my worry. That if something went wrong I might not get that exciting surprise moment. If we found out I would be completely present for that.

Have them seal of the pic of the penis or vag in an envelope, and go to a nice dinner with your DH and make a huge memorable event of the opening of the envelope. I would seriously suggest that. I barely remember Jacobs first week and I'm glad I have the opening of the envelope to hold on too. :-)

I really, really did not want to know the sex of either of my kids before they were born. I felt like I would find out soon enough and would enjoy the surprise. I also had several friends who were told what they were having, but ended up with the opposite sex! One friend had painted the entire nursery bepto pink....imagine her surprise when little Mathew was born!! I'm sure technology has come along way since then - my kids are now 11 and 17.
He thinks we should have the tech put the info in an envelope and seal it. THen we will give it to my MIL so that her and my SIL's (who are throwing DH and I a shower) and everyone invited will know the sex but we wont until we walk in to the shower in February and see the appropriate decorations. WDYT?

That sounds fun, but would you enjoy it more if it was a private moment between you and your DH?

I don't know...I think it would be fun this way. Although after talking a little more we probably would wait to give the info to MIL/SIL's until a few days before so it would be a surprise to guests as well so they wouldn't blow the secret.
Everyone may have already heard of this, but I just heard a story about a really cute way to reveal the sex! (I'm team green, but I would have done something fun like this if I did find out...)
The mom and dad had the ultrasound tech write the sex down, and seal it in an envelope. Then they took the envelope to a baker, and had them bake a cake with chocolate icing that was either pink or blue INSIDE, depending on the sex, without telling the parents. Then they had all their friends/family over and made a big production about cutting into the cake and seeing what color was in there! I saw pictures of the whole thing and it was very cute!

Taangent, this is a really good idea, actually. It would allow EVERYONE to find out at the same time and you'd all find out at THE SAME TIME. I was just thinking about the decorations and the logistics of timing as people help to set up and then people strolling in. Just thought I'd support this idea as well.?

We wanted to find out because my DH wanted a girl really badly. As we were having twins - he hoped at least one was a girl.

DH just suggested this and I kind of like it!
