baby shower games

I know there is a baby shower board but thought I could post here since there's many of us that have had, or are going to have a shower soon...

My mom is having a baby shower for me this weekend, I'm helping her out with games. Can you please share your game ideas with me?

Thank u !

Re: baby shower games

  • My DHs sister had a cute game where he and I raced to put the diaper on a baby doll the fastest. If your DH will not be there you can always do it with your guests!

  • my mom is doing these 3 very simple games.

The first is she put a bunch of diapers in a clear plastic container and asked the guests to guess how many were in there. I get the diapers and the winner gets a prize.

The second is she is asking the guests to guess how many onesies I will get while opening the presents. I like this one because it keeps everyone involved in the present opening.

And the last is the left right game. She got it off the internet and you basically pass a gift back and forth according to the story until there is a winner.

I think thats it. I really hate when people make you do embarrassing things at baby showers. These are simple and enough to keep guests involved without making them feel uncomfortable if they hate shower games.

  • My shower was Saturday and my friend got a few games from the baby section of Party City. They were short and quick and, therefore, a hit.  One was trying to match my answers on a pack of napkins that asked questions like "will baby come early, on time, late", "will dad's reaction to seeing the baby be high five, tears, pass out", etc.  (My answers: late, pass out!)

The other was to guess the size of my belly with some fake measuring tape (without numbers, thank god) and the third- not really a game- was to write advice to the new mom on an advice card and then my friend put all the advice in a keepsake book.  All were fun, quick and well-received.

  • Put baby items (such as pacifier or a cue tip) in paper lunch bags.  People have to guess what is in the bag just by feeling it.

Get different candy bars and melt them in diapers (10 -15 seconds in the microwave).  Make sure they are smushed real good then people have to guess the candy bar in the diaper.

Make blank bingo cards and have people fill them in with what they think you will get as gifts.  Then they mark off there card as you are opening.  If they get bingo, they yell BINGO!  I really like this one because opening presents can get kinda boring to the guests.

  • That "advice" idea as a keepsake sounds very cute!

Guessing the amount of onies is a good one too! perfect way to keep the ladies involved  !

    Thnx

  • My shower was Saturday also.  The 3 games were, gues how big the belly is using blue curling ribbon.  My sister went around and had everybody cut a piece of ribbon from the roll the length they thought I was around.  Then I went around the circle and wrapped each ribbon around me.  I thought they would all be huge but one was 1/2 in short, one 1/2 inch long and 1 right on.  Then of course there were some that were bigger.

The second game, my sister had bought some baby items and put one in each of 10 brown lunch bags and numbered them 1-10.  Guests on a sheet of paper had to write down what they thought was in there.  Then I got to open each bag and keep the items.  The guest with the most correct won a prize.  Items were bottle brush, onsie, pacifier, bib, teething toy, bath toy, socks, cap, and I forget the other 2.

The final game was bingo where guests had to write down things I would recieve and as I opened gifts they marked them off.  When they got 4 in a row they won.  If you're having lots of guests, you could do 5 in a row.

  • at my shower here are some of the games that were played:

Baby Shower Bingo - each person was given a blank bingo card and they had to put in a baby item in each square (ie: rattle, onesie, diapers, etc) and then when I opened my gifts they checked off each item. Whoever got "bingo" first, won a prize

Draw a baby on your head - Each person given a peice of paper and a pen, on "go" they had to draw a baby on top of their heads. I got to judge which was best to win a prize

Baby Anagram - Words with mixed up letters. at the end of the time limit (i think it was 2 mins) whoever had the most right answers won a prize

"don't say baby.." each person was given a clothes pin to wear the entire shower. if you heard someone say "baby" you could take their pin (s), at the end of the shower who ever had the most pins, wins!

  • I loathe baby shower games... so coming up with a game for my shower was a challenge for my sisters.

Because I love to scrapbook, and we all love Project Runway, they decided to put scrapbooking supplies on each table : patterned paper, buttons, ribbon, etc.

Each person had to design a baby outfit. You would NOT BELIEVE how much people loved this game because it was so different, and you would not believe how incredibly crafty and creative some people are!!!!!

It honestly kept everyone entertained the entire time I was opening presents. And I picked the top three winners, and they all got prizes.

I loathe shower games too, so my SIL, who's hosting my shower, just isn't planning to play any at my shower this weekend. To the OP, is that an option? I mean, unless you really, really want to play games. I know a lot of people (myself included) find games to be the most tedious part of a baby shower. I'm perfectly fine with just eating, drinking, and being merry at baby showers!
