3rd Trimester

starting to worry about my bowel movements

I'm so sorry that i've been posting so many constipation threads, but i've never experienced it this bad before! My doctor told me to drink a saline laxative last night, and another one this morning. Well, i've had both doses yesterday and today and NOTHING is happening. I'm not going. I'm not getting an urge to go. He said it would work within 6 hours. The first dose was 17 hours ago and the second dose was 3 hours ago. I'm starting to worry about a complete blockage instead of a partial one. :( I'm nervous i guess. I called the doctor but i'm waiting for a call back, which sometimes takes hours!

I've been on all liquids since Thursday because there is no room for my food. I'm so backed up that when i do eat, i just feel it sitting in my throat. This bites the big one.

Re: starting to worry about my bowel movements

  • how long has it been since you pooped? have you tried walking after you take the laxative?

  • I am so sorry. Blockage was one of the things I was worried about last night when I had those terrible cramps. I am so loaded with scar tissue it is unreal (endo related).

    Keep us posted.

  • its been a week... ive tried moving around, i tried warm liquids and a hot bath to relax the muscles, ive tried drinking a lot of water... nothings working.

coffee makes me gag lol but ive tried tea & hot chocolate :(

  • Coffee is a natural laxative. I'd try and get some down. Cocoa and tea do not have a laxative effect (for whatever reason).

Talk to your doctor about trying a suppository. Not pleasant, but effective.

This works for me every single time!  In my case, it doesn't take a lot of coffee to do the trick; hopefully it'll be the same for you!  :)

Always works for me, too.  It's really the only thing that does!

  • I feel your pain :(  I've always had constipation issues. Lucky for me, if it ever gets too bad, I just go eat a really greasy meal like McDonald's...usually gets things moving!
