So, since dh and I started talking about names years ago, before we were even engaged, now that I'm 3 months away from actually having a baby, I'm sick of every name we have discussed. So sad!!
We like classic names but also don't want to choose something that is completely overused. I realized the other day that although I don't want to go with something quite as common as Christopher, I like the slightly-different Christophe. Do you have variations on classic names to help us? Any riffs on Michael, Thomas, William, David, Adam, etc.? (No made-up names, though.)
Thanks!!
Re: Alternatives to classic boys names?
Jonah is a nice alternative John/Jonathan.
But since Jonah is actually getting common around where I live, I decided that I would go with Judah for my own ds.

William: Willem, Guillaume.
Lawrence: Lorenzo, Laurent, Lars.
Stephen: Etienne.
Matthew: Mateo.
Is Jameson getting really popular, though? It's actually a family name for me, and I always thought I would use it, but all of a sudden people are using any old last name for first names and I'm worried it's on the road to being trendy....
Perhaps a more "ethnic" version of a common name? i.e. Mikhail (Russian - Michael), Tomas (Latin - Thomas), Antone (Italian - Anthony).

Search thru Catholic or Saint's names. Even if you're not Cath, they're all usually very classic and often give you alternatives to consider.
Christopher - Christian, Topher, Kristof, Christo
Michael - Miles, Micah, Mitchell
Thomas - Tomas, Tomasso
William - Willem, Liam, Willis, Wilson, Wilkes
David - Devi, Daven, Davis
Adam - Abel, Caleb, Noah, Damen
Not that I like ALL of these, but some could work!

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I feel the same way. I like Christopher, but prefer Christian because it's a little different but still familiar.
Michael - Micah
Thomas - Timon
William - Willem
David - Davies
Adam - Abel, Aimon
