Stay at Home Moms

Introducing myself...

Hi!  I have been lurking between here and the Working Moms board, wishing that I belonged here, but knowing my maternity leave was ending in just a couple weeks.  Finally, after days of discussion with my DH, hours of sifting through our finances and more than a couple tears, I think I am going to become a SAHM.  It isn't definite yet, because I haven't told work that I won't be coming back...that should be happening on Tuesday.

I am so excited to be able to stay with my DD and am glad I won't be missing out on her babyhood.  At the same time, I am a little nervous to actually leave my job.  I love my boss and coworker and really enjoy the work.  I hope they understand that I really don't want to leave them in a lurch and that I am letting them know my decision as early I I am able to.  I sure hope quitting goes well...

  • Best of luck!  I suggest looking into www.momsclub.org for SAHM contacts.  I could not live w/o them!

  • Congratulations.  Not to discourage you, but you may want to try to return to work for a week or two, or offer to help out till a new person can be hired &/or train that person.  I only say this b/c I was laid off during my leave & wished that I had a job to return to.  Now I love staying home & can't imagine returning to work full-time, but some people find that they need the baby break, even if it's part-time.  In the end, do what's best for you, & GL!
