Bumbo in the bathtub?

I met a lady the other day who told me that she did this.  Have any of you tried it?  Didn't it get slippery?

Re: Bumbo in the bathtub?

  • That would be a big no-no.  Not safe at all.

  • NO WAY!!!! That is SO unsafe. I would imagine that it would float too!
  • The bumbo says specifically not to use it in the bath.
  • Nope it's not for bathtime. It's very unsafe.

  • Aside from the fact that it sounds unsafe, it seems like you'd have to keep taking LO out to wash different parts.  More of a pain than a helpful item.

Things I did different with this pregnancy:
    1. Waited TTC until after I had 3 normal menstrual cycles.
    2. Got a new OB - amazing man who listened!
    3. 200 mg progesterone until 12 weeks
    4. Daily lovenox injections
  • wondered after reading this. I tried it with a large can instead of DD just to see and it floats even with 3 large cans in it and it tips backwards. This is such a bad idea. I am shocked someone does this.

  • I was thinking the same thing.  Seems unsafe AND a hassle!
  • It floats so you couldn't actually fill the tub.  It & the baby are slippery so you couldn't take the baby in & out of it.  And I would think the baby would be cold, pissed about water in their face & not very thorough if you washed the baby w/ a shower head or washcloth.  There is a reason it says no---but there is a device made specifically for washing baby sitting upright in the bathtub...I got it as a shower gift & never used it--seemed easier to just bath the baby normally.

  • WAY unsafe. Not only is it slippery but it would probably float!!! Why would anyone want to do that anyway?
