  I just checked this this morning - you can fly (per my dr) up to 35 weeks. The airlines will let you fly domestically four weeks before your due date with a note from your Dr that you're ok to fly.

  a lot of OB's say different things. the question is, at what point will you not want to be far away from your doc and delivering hospital?
  

  airlines try to restrict it because they don't want to have to interrupt a flight for a woman in labor.  so really, they can't prevent you from flying.

  My OB with DD let me fly up to 36 weeks, and my most frequently flown airline (American) let me fly up to 39 weeks. 

  That said, it really depends on your own comfort level. I flew at 33 weeks with DD. This time, I'll be 34 weeks pregnant at Christmas, and I'm not flying home. I'm sure I could do it, but it's just easier to hold the granddaughter hostage and force everyone else to come to us!

  Also, obviously, an 18-hour overwater (i.e. fewer emergency landing spots if you go into labor) flight to Africa (i.e. fewer emergency facilities if anything goes wrong) would be a very different proposition from a 1-hour flight to a nearby city.

  I say talk to your doctor...Each pregnancy is different. (Especially each doctor has a different opinion too)....

  It just depends on your health, how your pregnancy started out, well or not and if any complications of any kind have occurred.

  For when I was pregnant with DS My doctor told me I could travel up to 35weeks.

  This time around I am pregnant with twins and when a lot of doctors are scared of complications occuring towards the end of 2nd trimester going into the 3rd Tri, my doctor says I can travel up till 32 weeks when his other pregnant moms of multiples (carrying more than one baby) are being stopped from traveling at around 26-28wks.

  And there has been talk on the boards about how airlines are not wanting women to fly late in their pregnancies and I haven't heard that but again if that is a concern, talk to your doctor and maybe he can write a note for you to give to the airline..

  There is no rule.  My ob says any travel before 36 weeks is fine.  Delta lets you fly at any point in your pregnancy.  Other airlines have a different policy.  You should also look at your insurance coverage.  Some have restrictions on travel after a certain time period, ie, you cannot be more than 50 miles away from your home after 37 weeks, or you delivery will not be covered.

  thanks for your responses. 

  i know it all depends on your own situation (health, etc) and your dr's opinion.  i figured around 36 weeks would be the limit.  my 1st pregnancy was a breeze and i was walking 2-5 miles a day trying to go into labor.  i went 2 weeks late and still had to be induced.  every pregnancy is different though - the next one could be opposite.  this vacation would be a 2-3 hour flight and to a big city where relatives live, so i'd feel ok about the small risk of going into labor.

  now i just need to get KU!
