Toddler place-mat for restaurants?

https://www.amazon.com/Kiddopotamus-10319-Tinydiner-Placemat-Green/dp/B000TVWIPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1255279289&sr=1-1

I like this one bc it has a little scoop to catch the bits :)

I remember seeing one when I was pg that had a lip around all the edges to catch everything, not just on the bottom. Now I can't find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Or have another rec?

  • get the disposable mats. how annoying to carry that thing everywhere.
  • We have this mat and we love it.  I bought it almost three years ago and it's held up really well and it sticks to most surfaces.

ETA - it also rolls up very easily so taking it places isn't a problem.

  • This placemat did not work for dd.  She can pull the suction cups up and then all the food and the mat goes flying:)

I buy the disposable ones, they work so much better for us.  We get them at Target, the little Einstein ones.

  • i have this one & we like it, but my son has figured out how to pull the suction cups up so it works great until he decides to pull it off the table. babies r us carries it in 3 different colors. we got disposable ones that stick to the table. the good thing about them is you don't have to clean them but they are not very environmentally friendly if you are concerned about that.

((((hugz trees))))) I don't think I'll mind. We don't eat out that often!

  • We actually love this mat & couldn't live without it... I keep it in the trunk of my car (the "family" car).  I got it at BRU.

  • We have this and love it. We tuck his silverware away in it and roll it up- doesn't take up much room-it's always in our baby bags.
  • We have that one and it was great before DS turned 1. Now it is just a game to either throw the food in the scoop or pull the whole thing off the table.

I buy the disposable ones, however, the ones we buy are biodegradable so they are still earth friendly.

  • We have the one you linked to and I love it. It rolls up and fits in her tiny little backpack, so we always have it with us. The few times we've eaten without it, her mess is multiplied by 10. That little pouch really does catch most stuff!

  • We also have the Kiddopotamus Tiny Diner and we love it. It's really not a pain at all to carry since it rolls right up. We use it a lot.
  • I agree with everyone above, this worked great until she figured out she can pull it up, then it turned into one of use holding it down with our hand the entire time we are dining.  We are now using the disposable ones as well.

  • I got that placemat at BRU and I was very disappointed with it.  DD could pull it off of the table and I didn't think the food catcher cup worked very well at all.

We used it one night at an italian restaurant and I forgot about it in her diaper bag for 2 weeks. lol It was moldy and I threw it in the trash because the mold stained it and grossed me out.

I ended up getting the plastic disposable sheets that stick on the table and those are great!! They have sesame street characters on them, which are her favs, and they keep her busy while we wait to eat.
