r/p from premie board. Angelcare or similar monitors???

Just wondering if anyone has this? My baby is a premie & should be coming home next week. I am considering buying this or something similar. Hubby & I have gotten used to LO being on monitors at the hospital & are really anxious about bringing him home without them! Thanks!

  • I highly recommend against the Fisher Price monitors, they suck! In my personal and my nursing experience, the best thing I can tell you is watch your baby, not the monitor. The monitors give us basic readings of things that us medical people find helpful, however when they beep off the first thing we check is the baby. Many times the monitor goes off just because the baby is kicking, moving or crying. I would suggest to have the baby sleep in a bassinet in your room for a bit until you become familiar with your LO's habits and noises during the night. Good luck and you'll be fine!!

  • We have one and I love it- it gives me a piece of mind during those times that he's actually quiet when he's sleeping! (He's a noisy sleeper and I always get worried when I don't hear him!). We have had a few false alarms but you just need to tweak the sensitivity on the monitor and also the position of the pad under the mattress. I would definitely buy one again if we were to do it over.

  • i just got the angelcare monitor based on users' reviews, and b/c the risk of sids is the highest between 2-4 months (LO just turned 2 months).
  • I use the angelcare monitor.  I am a worrier and I even used it with my daughter in her cradle in our room with us. I really feel better using it even if there may be a false alarm once in a while.
