When did you have the big U/S to find out the sex?

I see a group of OB/GYN's. At my 12 week appt., the dr. said that we could schedule the U/S for week 18 and we would be ok to find out the sex. Today at my 16 week appt., a different dr. said that she would wait until 20 weeks to find out. Based on siggies here, it looks like quite a few people found out before 20 weeks. We're holding off on starting the nursery until we know, and it's only a 2 week difference I know, but I want to find out!!

We're having our ultrasound at exactly 20 weeks.

18 weeks. Would have been 20 but my penta screen came back bad so they had to use a better ultrasound at a different facility for my anatomy scan to make sure everything was okay.

Mine is scheduled for 18w 5d. But some docs are big on waiting until 20 weeks.

I don't have my "big u/s" until the 22nd of this month (I'll be 20 weeks and 3 days) but I actually had an "elective" u/s to find out the sex at 17 weeks and 6 days ... last weekend ... couldn't wait any longer.

We were a little over 20 weeks when we found out. The Dr wouldn't look until 20 just for good measurements and to make sure everything was developed enough.

My doctor told me to schedule it for 20 weeks. I'll be 19w6d.

Last time I had to wait until 21w2d because of scheduling conflicts, and I hated having to wait that long!

I went in at 20 weeks. The ultrasound tech wouldn't let me schedule sooner. She kept reminding me that finding out the sex isn't the only thing they check at that ultrasound. That they wanted to make sure I was far enough along to check how the heart, brain and organs were developing. I was quite impatiant Big Smile

Mine is going to be at 18 3/4 weeks. My doctor didn't indicate that this was on the earlier side, in fact, I got the impression it was a pretty conservative date. But I guess 20 would be more conservative...curious to see responses!

With DD it was at 18 weeks, and she measured a little over 16 weeks. They weren't really sure if it was a girl (no boy parts visible) or too early to tell. I wished I had waited. With DS I waited until 20 weeks. I also ovulate at least a week later than most, so even though they are going by last known cycle start date, I should be less weeks than they think.

With DS, we found out at about 18 weeks. This time, I scheduled my appointments way ahead of time so the u/s and an office visit are scheduled for the same day when I am 20w2d. I'm impatient but I can wait. It's only about a week away now

I found out at 16 weeks, but only because I volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center and the sonographer wanted to scan me for fun. If I was waiting for my dr, I wouldn't have found out until 22 weeks. I have an appt at almost 18 weeks and then I don't go back for another month. Since this baby being a boy was a HUGE surprise to DH and I, I am so glad we found out early. And he was VERY obvious about the fact that he didn't want any pink clothing - he was waving that weenie all over the place!

Thanks ladies. DH thinks we should listen to today's doctor and wait. I just found out that my friend goes to see the same group, and the same doctor that told me 18 weeks sent her at 18 weeks and now she knows that she's having a boy! Confused

Grr! I know I should just be patient, but I don't want to wait if I don't have to! Oh, well.

Pretty much this, and I agreed with my OB when she explained. Actually the timing is pretty good... it's the day after our third anniversary, so we'll go out to dinner that night, and open the envelope there - I'd rather not find out at the OB office

I had mine at 18 weeks 6 days and you couldnt miss it!!! I think it all depends on when your dr. wants to do it! They checked all vitals and measurements then and baby is growing great!

one clear shot of his junk showed DH and I that we were definitely having a baby boy
