I'm 14 weeks pg (ticker is wrong) and I feel like I'm starting to show a little. I know this sounds dumb but I'm worried if I am showing, it's too early. In other words, what happens if what I'm showing is just unneccessary weight gain? At my last doctors appointment I hadn't gained any weight, but I haven't been on the scale since then...and admittedly, my appetite has been out of control the past few weeks (ravenous some days, not hungry at all others). I feel like I heard most people (who are pregnant with #1) don't start showing until 18+ weeks. Did anyone start showing earlier than that?
This is baby #1 for me and I'm so excited, but a little freaked out by how my body is changing. I know it's about to change a million times more, and I honestly think a pregnant woman is SO BEAUTIFUL, but it's still hard to picture on myself. Make sense?!
Thanks!
Re: When did you start showing?
I have shown early with both pregnancies. My opinion is that it completely depends the woman. I look pregnant at only 15 weeks, and did last time too.
If you are worried about whether it's excess weight gain, just get yourself back on track with your eating. :)But I wouldn't worry about it
1st - there's no such thing as unnecessary weight gain. YOU"RE GROWING A PERSON. And at this stage, particularly if you had no gain at your last appointment, you're FINE.
I started showing about 14 weeks, but it wasn't until 22 weeks that strangers noticed. I'm 26 today and am obviously pregnant...depending on what I wear.
Everyone's body is different. I'm tall, with a long torso, and I am a climber (when my belly isn't in the way, that is) so I had rock-hard abs, which hold everything in. I have a friend who is shorter, short-torsoed, and not a climber and if you compare our bump pictures she was bigger faster. It's not big deal.
Don't compare yourself to anyone but yourself and don't worry about your weight too much.
This. Everyone is different and will gain/show at different rates. And believe me, I understand the whole reconciling yourself to the changes your body is going through. It is WEIRD to see my stomach stick out so far these days and I won't go into the giant boobies, etc.
My last appointment was 3 weeks ago and I had not gained a pound yet, but starting at 12 weeks when I held my stomach in, it was no longer flat. I am still wearing all of my pre-pregnancy pants and to the random stranger I don't think I look pregnant but people I know can see a difference.
Im 14 weeks and clearly showing to anyone that knows me. Im only 5'3" and short waisted so there isnt much room for it to go and I have only gains 3-4 lbs so its not weight gain either.
Everyone is different, my bff was looking clearly pg at about 10-11 weeks, yet others i know didnt show anything until much later. The worst thing I found with my bff was everyone kept asking her if she was having multiples or if her due date was off.. but really she got it early and its grown pretty slowly.
I considered myself to be "showing" with DD at 14 weeks. When I go back and look at the belly picture, I just laugh
There is a little TINY bump, but it's hardly anything. Still, I felt huuuuuuuuuuuge!
But even people who knew me didn't always notice that I was pregnant until I was 25+ weeks along. So even though I felt like I was showing, it wasn't really all that obvious to others.
Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)
im in the same boat as you- im 16 wks on monday and i feel like im huuuge. i just ironed a maternity shirt for church tomorrow morning (the first time ill wear anything thats maternity).
im 5'1 and was 110 prepreg. at 13 wks i had gained 3 lbs. i eat well and exercise so i guess its not that im gaining too much too fast, so im attributing my size to being short waisted. my MIL said something today about me being smaller and showing later (she didnt see my size bc i had a hoodie on) but her logic seemed like crap to me. i expressed that my doc said it would prob be the total opposite since it has no where to go but out.
and to the pp who said the comment about dont compare yourself to anyone- thanks! i needed to read that too!
