Success after IF

Infant seat question

I just went to the Highway Patrol car seat installation (they do it once a month here) and the officer seemed uncertain whether the infant seat could go in the middle seat of my car. There's a pass through slot to the trunk with a little door that opens in the center seat of my car. He said some car manuals will tell you not to install the infant seat there, but my manual said nothing about it. Argh. So, he put it in the middle, but now I'm worried. The pass through door thing doesn't click into place, and it does seem like it could fly open and hit the baby in the seat if I had an accident. Argh.

I'll call the dealer on Monday, but has anyone else dealt with this situation? I'd prefer to have the seat in the middle, but will move it to the right side if need be.

Thanks!

After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

Re: Infant seat question

  • What kind of a car do you have? I have an equinox and my manual said I couldn't install it in the middle, so we had it installed on the right side. You should try calling a car dealer and ask them

  • I have to say that it kind of makes me mad that car makers don't purposely make it safe to put the carseat in the middle.  Research shows that the middle of the backseat is the safest place. . . grrrr.  But, then again, I'm the one who bought a car, right before our IVF cycle, that has only two seats in the back.  (Seriously, what was I thinking???)

I hope that the dealership is able to answer your questions.  And OMG--you are driving around with a carseat installed in your car!  Eeeeee!
