PT regression after the arrival of DC#2?

I know I've seen people talk about this before, but I forget...

Since Levi's been home, Lucas has had several "accidents" - peeing himself once and just now pooping in his pants.  He was in the bathroom both times, but wouldn't get on the potty and go.

This is just a phase, right?  Just a way for him to get more attention?  Do I ignore it and clean him up but not acknowledge it because its the attention he's seeking?  Or do I talk to him about potty all over again?

HELP!  I'm seriously sleep deprived....

TIA!

  • I don't have specific advice on how to handle it b/c we are in PT hell with anthony, but I have heard that is very common.  Congrats on your new arrival!

  • Just wanted to say "Hi!".  We got back late last night.  Email me some pics of the cutie pie, please.
  • I don't know how long he was PT'd before baby brother came home, but I definitely think it's a phase.  I'd be as matter of fact as possible "Oops, you had an accident. Next time lets try to get to the potty faster!"  Clean up & move on. Whether consciously or unconsciously, it's for attention so I think the more you try to just 'ignore' it & not react to it, I think it will go away quicker.  It is frustrating- especially when sleep deprived- but the more you can remain calm the better.  Good luck- those first days with two are no small feat!
