3rd Trimester

slightly elevated temp?

I've been very lucky and been healthy and happy throoughout my pregnancy.  Now, though, I've got a cold/sinus thing going on. Yesterday my temp was 98, this morning was 99.1.  I know tylenol is safe and will be taking some, but should I be worried about this slighlty elevated temp (Even though it's technically not a fever)?

Re: slightly elevated temp?

  • No, I wouldn't be worried about it. Just take some time and drink plenty of fluids and keep an eye on it. If it goes above 100 then call your doctor. Hope you feel better.

  • Actually you shouldn't take any Tylenol, it is a low grade fever which is your body's response to foreign invaders. It is a GOOD thing to have a low fever that means your body is doing it's job to fight off whatever it is. If you take the Tylenol you undermine your body's immune system. Tylenol should really only be taken to relieve a high fever.

Monitor the temp, if it goes above 101 THEN take some Tylenol. Keep up the fluids and rest. That's my free nursing advice for the day :)
