when DH is late, I get so nervous

DH is two hours late in getting home from work. He works downtown Cleveland & always calls me when he's on the highway home. (he just does this so I know if we'll all be able to eat together or if we should start w/o him) He never stops anywhere w/o letting me know first.

He has no set time to leave, but he told me when he'd be leaving today. I know that he underestimated his leave time by an hour probably & then got pulled into someone's office. And he's not answering either phone.

I know this, but... I can't help thinking something happened to him on the way to the parking garage or there was an accident.

I'm tempted at the 3 hour mark to call one of his friends that he works with to see what's up. I just don't want to seem overbearing though. What if I call & look like an a$$? What if I don't call & something did happen?

Grrrr... Am I nuts? Is anyone else like this?

  • You're not overreacting. I'd call to check just so you have some peace of mind. Cleveland can be scary plus all the highway traffic. (I'm originally from Canton, so I know it's crazy around there.) I'm sure everything's okay, but you'll feel better if you call his work friends just to be sure.

  • I would call too.  Probably after 2 hours.  That is the type I am.  If not I would be thinking of 100 different things that could have happened.  For my own sanity I would have to call.  Don't feel like you are overreacting.

  • Thanks ladies for making me feel better about calling. i just texted his work buddy & he was pulled into a meeting as he was leaving:) I knew it, but it feels good to have it confirmed.
