Question from 3rd Tri re: NB diapers

Talk to me about NB diaper with cord cutouts vs. those without?  Did you find that you really needed the cutouts?

We bought NB diapers without and now I'm wondering if I'm going to have to sit and create a bunch of diapes with cutouts and haven't a clue how to go about doing that.

Re: Question from 3rd Tri re: NB diapers

  • we like huggies, so our NB diapers had the cutout. but you don't actually have to make a cutout of the NB diapers, you can just fold the fronts of them down.

  • Forget cutting anything out, I just folded them down after I put them on him. Muuuccchhh less time consuming. =)

  • My baby went straight to size ones and never wore NBs. We never used any diapers with the cord cutouts. He was just fine with the regular diapers. :)
  • We still ended up folding down the front on the diapers with the cutouts before DD's stump fell off.  They still came up too high on her, so the cutout didn't really do much good for us.
  • I had very few with cutouts so I just folded the flap down a bit and it worked fine.

  • Just fold down the front and you should be good.
  • The cutout was never low enough anyway - we still had to fold over.

  • I did not like the diapers with cutouts, expecially the hguggies...they were too short for DD and she ended up leaking

  • I don't think you need the cord cut-out -- The diaper (I would imagine) couldn't hurt it...Her clothes rub against it all of the time and the cord isn't painful for her if you touch it. I wouldn't waste my time, personally. We used swaddlers and they worked just fine.

This, I had no time to be cutting diapers lol, she went through them too fast. Just fold the top. Pampers swaddlers were our favorite, they had the wetness indicator Wink
  • We used pampers swaddlers and didn't have any problems with folding them to avoid the cord stump.
  • We just folded down the diapers without cutouts.  It wasn't a big deal.
  • We used Pampers Swaddlers and had no problem...I don't remember if they have the cutout or not.
  • New question, did anyone use Luvs for their newborn?
  • the cut out is nice, but you can just fold down the front of the diaper - people did that for years before the cut-out.

We have been using Luvs size 1's for a while now...She wasn't in the Pampers newborn swaddlers for too long - maybe 2-3 weeks max. We've been using the Luvs ever since, work great for my DD.

  • Our son skipped size NB... with the size 1's we just fold down the top edge so its below the cord stump and that works fine.
  • You can fold a diaper down just as easily.  It doesn't really matter.

This... the hospital shows you how to just fold it down. He was in size 1 the day he was born, i was so glad i didnt stack up on NB size.

  • Pampers Swaddlers fit LO much better than Huggies. We just made sure to fold the diaper down so it wouldn't but her cord. Huggies already has a dip in the diaper to accomodate the cord.
