The Worst Question While TTC (vent long)

Was asked. So DH and I have been married for over 6 years. Yes that is a long time but we got married when I was 20, young! Not ready for kiddos at that point. Well here I am 6 years later...ready.

I started a blog, one of my friends out of total disrespect went and opened her big mouth to one of her family friends that lives down the street from my parents which brings up the question...

So my poor mother (who knows I am off the pill) is outside working in her yard and this woman comes up to her and asks "IS KENZIE PREGNANT YET?" So not only did she piss me off because I heard about it but it hurt my mother as well. That is seriously the worst question to ask anyone. Grrr! Mind your own business and don't run to my mother and ask her. No I am not pregnant yet, sorry to disappoint you lady!!! FFS!

I guess another reason why this hurt so much is because my mom heard that question a lot while TTC - I am adopted, so is my brother. She couldnt have children biologically, thankfully they were able to adopt my brother and me. So when my mom and I had this converstation, I stated that is the worst question someone can ask, of course my mother, in tears, said "I know honey, you are looking at a woman who was asked that question for years."

I love my mom!

Aw, I'm getting teary just reading this. Your mom sounds so sweet and I'm glad she was lucky enough to be able to adopt you and your brother.

I know, that is the worst question. People ask me this all the time, although sometimes in the more subtle form of "any news???" (said while glaring at my stomach area).

I'm so sorry! Your mom sounds like a wonderful lady. I agree that is the worst question. I don't know why so many people seem to think that they are entitled to know (and ask public questions) about one of the most private aspects of your life. People can be so rude.

You're sweet Mom. My MIL tried for 13 years. She said to me one time that "just because a couple doesn't have children, don't assume they don't want them." That was the first time I realized that you should never ever even bring up the subject unless someone starts talking to you about it. She heard those comments all the time too. I'm sorry that your Mom was upset. But at least you know you've got a big supporter in your corner.

This exactly. Thank you ladies for your support. It is great to have a supporter in your corner who has been through it before. I don't understand why some people think they need to know everything, even if I was pregnant right now I dont think that lady down the street would know right away!! Seriously!

Like you, I was married at 20 and have been married for 5 years so I completely understand. My mom owns a restaurant in the town I grew up in so she gets asked that a lot (I moved out of town). I just wish people you mind their own business. Grr...

What a wonderful woman you have for a mother. She sounds like she loves you to pieces.

That is the worst question though!! People ask me all the time and no one even knows that we have been trying. One of these days I am going to say, "No I am not pregnant yet because we have infertility issues" just to turn the table for once.

By the way, I LOVE your name!! Kenzie is on the top of my girl baby name list!!

What an amazing mom! I know what you mean about getting questioned for waiting so long. DH and I have been married for 8 years and were not ready until now either - oh, and I am 31! GL to you and gain strength from your great mom!
