When do you stop using the stroller?

Not that I'm planning to kick DS out of his anytime soon, just curious as to when kids normally stop using them.

I've seen a lot of kids in them who have to pick their feet up otherwise they'd drag on the ground.

I am thinking that as soon as DS is a pretty good walker, I'll stop using it. I don't see this happening in the next few months though.

I really haven't thought about it but I did see someone pushing a girl in a stroller at the craft store once and I swear this girl was at least 6. I mean, she was totally grown. lol It looked so strange.

I think it depends where you live. It's pretty normal to see 3 and 4 year olds in strollers in NYC because their little legs can't handle that much walking. I think by the time they are 2 or 2.5, they are mostly walking but will still use a stroller occassionally on long walks, day trips, etc.

Unless we're out for a long shopping trip or something like that, DD is rarely in the stroller, and she is 16 months old.

DD is 22 months and has been walking for a year, and I still use the stroller as much as possible when we go out. I say as much as possible because I prefer keeping her contained, but she prefers walking -- and she almost always wins that battle eventually. lol.

I think by age 3 she'll be done with the stroller for short trips, but we'll still probably need it for longer trips (i.e. to the zoo or amusement park). But of course we'll still need it daily for this next baby.

This. We live in NYC and still use a stroller daily. We have a lot of walking as a part of our daily commute to and from the babysitter. The stroller serves the dual purpose of keeping DS from getting too tired and keeping our walk at a reasonable amount of time- I let him out of the stroller for the last block since we live on a fairly quiet block and don't have to cross any more streets, and it usually takes us about a half hour to get down our blck. We stop and play with the gates, pick up sticks and leaves and acorns, chase after the squirrels, run up and down the different driveways Smile I f he walked the whole way, we'd never get home!
